President and Prime Minister Said to Have Reached Agreement

Adiss Ababa,(insidesomalia.org)-According to reports fom Ethiopia, the president and prime minister of Somalia [Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmad and Nur Hasan Husayn] have reached initial agreement.

 

The reports say that Ethiopian and AU officials who have for a long time been engaged in efforts to resolve the problem between the president and the prime minister of Somalia have succeeded in reaching an agreement acceptable to both leaders.

 

The reports add that the agreement which is expected to be signed this afternoon includes articles on reappointing some of the ministers who had resigned.

 

The president and the prime minister are also said to have discussed reconciliation and the sacking of the governor of Banaadir Region, Muhammad Umar Habeb aka Muhammad Dheere, who will not be among those to get their jobs back.

 

The president, prime minister and speaker of parliament in Somalia are in Ethiopia for the second week where they went to find a solution to the serious differences between the president and prime minister which had affected other members of the government.

 

The important agreement has been accepted by both sides and will be presented to the media this afternoon, according to reports.

 

The president and the prime minister are expected to return together to Mogadishu to hold a big meeting where the agreement will be presented.
